Web Design and Development - Pilot Clothing
Pilot is one of the most respected fashion retailers in the United Kingdom. The first Pilot Men store opened over twenty years ago and was a development of the manufacturing business owned by founder Peter Stepien. Pilot Men has always been at the cutting edge of men’s fashion, bringing new labels to its audiences such as Maharishi and G Star way back in 1999.
Pilot realised that in order to move with the times, an online presence was an essential element of their business. The brief was to develop a site with a personal feel so we included a front page news section and Interchangeable themes which allow the user to customise the colour of the site.
The site is written in valid XHTML, CSS, PHP with a MySQL database and a scrolling Flash header. It integrates with Pilots stock control system via a CSV import so the site only displays product sizes that are available. Credit and debit card payments are taken securely via the Protx payment gateway.
A great website is worthless if your potential customers can't find you so I optimised the site for search engines. Traffic to the site now increases by an average of 2,500 extra visitors each month due to an ongoing search engine optimisation campaign. They also feature in the top ten Google search results for the following competitive keywords;
